About me

I am Oscar Solis, a multidisciplinary artist, UX designer, and member of Nortejiendo (a textile art-ivism collective).

I am based in Chihuahua, Mexico, and work across textile art, ceramics, and performance to explore how bodies, materials, and territories mutually transform each other.

My art practice began in 2017 as a hobby within Nortejiendo. What started as knitting gatherings eventually evolved into producing pieces of greater technical and conceptual complexity, as well as multiple installations, performances, and textile works centered on the struggle for human rights.

After an existential crisis regarding my professional career in the summer of 24, I decided to delve deeper into the art world and explore my personal searches in ceramics, which ultimately gave rise to one of my first individual works (My Greatest Pride, 2025).

I am interested in producing pieces that change over time, that transform or acquire new meanings. Through individual and collaborative processes, I address themes related to identity, memory, detachment, and human rights.

My practice arises from the intersection of years of collective artistic work, my background in engineering, and a constant curiosity about materials and the possibilities they offer. For me, artistic creation has become a space for learning, listening, and transformation.
